6/22/2023 0 Comments Final draft big breakI also wonder about the number of submissions per category. But if you entered in the Diversity category, you really have to turn in a top shelf product to stand out, and even then it requires a lot of luck that you'll get a reader who likes the script at the QF and SF stage. Of course you might get people who really don't like your script, whereas in the QF and SF stage you may have just gotten lucky with a reader who really connected with it. I mean 1 in 3 of the Family/Animated writers are going to end up in the top ten, versus just 1 in 30 of the Diversity writers! So it would make sense that you have a better chance of winning the grand prize just by virtue of making it to the finals since I think you get more readers at those stages. I'm no expert in math but it seems to me that if you want to make it further in the competition, it would be wise to go for one of the less crowded categories. There's 30 in Family/Animated, 35 in Period/Historical/War, 47 in SciFi/Fantasy, 48 in Action/Adventure, 73 in Comedy/RomCom, 110 in Thriller/Horror, 143 in Drama, and a whopping 312 in Diversity. ![]() What I find interesting is the vast discrepancy between genres in the number of scripts, at least for features. Kansas now theoretically has one open scholarship space. He fit in so well in year one and we’re excited about what he’ll do with our program from a leadership standpoint.” “Kevin is not only a terrific player, but a terrific teammate. ![]() “We’ve had a lot of good things happen through recruiting this offseason, but nothing that has transpired this offseason was bigger for KU basketball than having a seasoned veteran like Kevin McCullar return to our program.” “This is a big day for Kansas basketball,” Self said. McCullar was the only player in the top five of the Big 12 in both steals and rebounds. ![]() He averaged 10.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 44% from the field. Last season as a Jayhawk, McCullar started in every game but one for Kansas. Still, McCullar was a Big 12 Honorable Mention and Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Semifinalist in 2021-22. During his final season at Texas Tech, McCullar averaged similar numbers to the previous year, but he was battling injuries. McCullar started to display his impact and prowess as a sophomore, earning Big 12 Honorable Mention honors for his 10.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. The next season he started six games as a freshman. McCullar redshirted his first year in Lubbock - the year the Red Raiders made it to the national championship game. The San Antonio native started his career at Texas Tech, playing under Chris Beard. “Even though he has improved his status as an NBA prospect, there is still work to be done and he has informed us that he is going to return to Kansas for his last year of college.” “Kevin went through the pre-draft process, which is designed to do exactly what it did,” Kansas coach Bill Self said. He didn’t score on five shots from the field and had five fouls in 18 minutes. ![]() Not the best showing today from Kevin McCullar.
